Russian Hackers May Be Behind Planted Fake News that Sparked Qatar Crisis

CNN reports that Russian hackers may have breached Qatar’s state news agency and published a fake news story which attributed false quotations to the nation’s ruler, stirring up the fall out between Qatar and several Gulf states.

The Qatari government first reported a hacking intrusion two weeks ago and the article in question quoted the nation’s ruler making false remarks which “were friendly to Iran and Israel and also questioned whether President Donald Trump would last in office,”CNN reported.

According to CNN’s exclusive report, the false story is partially to blame for the biggest crisis the Persian Gulf has seen in years.
